RADIO MIRCHI MUSIC AWARDS 2010
Chennai, 10th September 2011: It was a beautiful night in Chennai when the stars of the music industry from across the South shone brighter as it was the night of felicitation! The music celebrities were honoured for excellence for the year 2010 in this glittering function.
The awards night was forever young as the ground pulsated with foot tapping music, electrifying performances and joie de vivre. Oodles of charisma, bustling energy and enthralling performances filled the air as stars legendary and new, graced the occasion with their presence.
Sri Gangai Amaren, Jury Chairman Tamil, Uninor Mirchi Music Awards 2010 said, “To begin with – these awards have filled in the gap that existed in the Indian music Industry. It was surprising that a country where music lies in each and every aspect of life and which is a very big part of our Kollywood was not being recognised to its fullest.”

Actor Shiva and hostess Pooja, together on stage for the very first time, were the masters of ceremony who ruled over the evening with their brimming wit and adorable flair. The evening churned out a montage of performances as the gleeful audiences were left awestruck by the overflowing celebration and exuberance.
The event opened with a colourful performance by Raghu Dixit’s band who performed to two superhit Kannada numbers. This act was followed by a Black and White tribute to the superstars of the yesteryears, Singer Karthik got the magical NTR and MGR numbers alive!
The ever youthful Usha Uthup took the stage by storm as she sang and danced to popular numbers across all the southern languages in her inimitable style, she had the audiences jiving to her beat! A truly livewire performance.
The vivacious trio of Vijay Yesudas, Swetha Mohan and Haricharan electrified the stage with a medley act with songs ranging from retro to the latest hits, weaving a Musical Love Story with a humourous twist in the end! This was a first of kinds act that entertained the audience.
Singer Benny Dayal, accompanied by three Divas – Singers Maya, Bhargavi Pillai and Megha gave a power packed performance with super hit numbers. The numbers accompanied by the scintillating dance performance had the audience asking for more!
The grand finale was an in-house act – the Theme Song of Uninor Mirchi Music Awards with a thematic representation of the four southern states coming together as one, unified by the Power of Music! The theme song ended with the audience joining in for the National Anthem and as the auditorium reverberated with the voices singing as one, a grand evening culminated in a crescendo, as Radio Mirchi paid its Salutation to Music!
Of course, in the midst of all this splendor and entertainment, the audience got a chance to see history unfold as envelopes were opened on stage to reveal the winners for 2010. The Winners accepted their awards with jubilation and humility, while being felicitated for their contribution to excellence in Indian cine music.
