Melodrama of Melting Mesmerism by L.RAMACHANDRAN with MODEL MANJU SHANKAR
The magical and mesmeric effects in this suite of works, depicting the sensational melodrama that strongly appeals to the emotions. The artist creates spellbinding art forms that fascinates the viewers and makes them to travel along with the plot of the concept.
The artist cum photographer wants the viewers to connect soulfully with the concept to discover the Differences in the “similarity”. Each creation is a curious amalgamation of conservative and contemporary work of art.
The spectator who walks across find the imagery will flaunting them with eerie transformations from one picture to another but retains similarities which comprises of Gothic attributes like the dark and intense ambiance, unusual atmosphere, black clothing, laces, long veils, smoke and candles.
The protagonist fulfills the artist’s ardor by her alluring features and countenance but still remaining an enigma to the viewer. ” The Melodrama of melting mesmerism”, the techniques and artistry occupied by L Ramachandran in terms of lights, shadow, reflection, ingenious makeover and art direction would tract the passer-by into world of mysteries.
Description of Melodrama:
Flowers are known for their fragrance and tenderness, candles for their light and alluring sweet incense. They both are characterized as a symbol of peace, positivity and energy. They are a sign of good vibrations that would set us up in the mood for love.
On the other hand, we fail to contemplate the sacrifices they both make. Flowers give up its life and makes the ambience admirable. A candle immolates itself to give light and casts off the darkness that surrounds. The candle melts shapeless if burnt and a displeasing odor spreads if we burn a flower.
With these features, the photographer correlates these elements with the inner fathomless emotions that women handle. Artist illustrates the enigmatic side that a woman, a tender elegant creature, would turn into when her soul is set on fire. Her vibrant colors change into darker shades as the fire fills her soul.
This set of conceptual creation clearly depicts the situation where independent women empower themselves to brave the negative influence of society, customs, violence, beliefs and superstitions and the circumstances that refuse them their freedom. These constraints set her spirit on fire and her “Shakti” frantically storms away the unpleasant energies around her.
To felicitate the evening the photography gallery inaugurated with the pictures clicked by Photographer L Ramachandran posed by Manju Shankar depicting or showcasing the Melodrama of Melting Mesmerism. We had a lot of other cinema celebrities and socialites who walked in to get the visual treat.

கவிஞர் வைரமுத்துவின் மலையாளச் சிறுகதைகள் கேரளாவில் எம்.டி.வாசுதேவன் நாயர் வெளியிடுகிறார்.
கவிஞர் வைரமுத்து எழுதிய ‘வைரமுத்து சிறுகதைகள்’ என்ற நூல் மூன்று மாதங்களில் 9 பதிப்புகள் கண்டதாகும். அதிலிருந்து தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட 15 சிறுகதைகள் ‘சிறிது நேரம் மனிதனாயிருந்தவன்’ என்ற தலைப்பில் மலையாளத்தில் மொழிபெயர்க்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. மாத்ருபூமி பதிப்பித்திருக்கும் இந்த நூலை ஞானபீடம் பரிசுபெற்ற புகழ்மிக்க மலையாள எழுத்தாளர் எம்.டி.வாசுதேவன் நாயர் இம்மாதம் 28ஆம் தேதி கேரளாவில் வெளியிடுகிறார். நூலின் முதற்படியை கேரள சாகித்ய அகாடமியின் செயலாளர் மோகனன் பெற்றுக்கொள்கிறார். கே.எஸ்.வெங்கிடாசலம் சிறுகதைகளை
மொழிபெயர்த்திருக்கிறார்.
மலையாள இலக்கியத்தின் தந்தை என்று போற்றப்படும் எழுத்தச்சன் திருவிழா கோழிக்கோட்டை அடுத்த திரூரில் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. துஞ்சன் திருவிழா என்று ஒவ்வோராண்டும் நான்கு நாட்கள் நடைபெறும் அந்தக் கலை இலக்கியத் திருவிழாவில் அகில இந்திய அறிஞர்களும் எழுத்தாளர்களும் கலந்துகொள்கிறார்கள். டெல்லி சாகித்ய அகாடமியுடன் இணைந்து துஞ்சன் அறக்கட்டளை இவ்விழாவை நடத்துகிறது.
இந்த ஆண்டு துஞ்சன் இலக்கியத் திருவிழாவைக் கவிஞர் வைரமுத்து தொடங்கி வைக்கிறார். இந்திய இலக்கியத்தில் பன்முகப் பண்பாடு என்ற தலைப்பில் அவர் உரையாற்றுகிறார். ‘சிறிது நேரம் மனிதனாயிருந்தவன்’ என்ற தலைப்பில் மலையாளத்தில் மொழிபெயர்க்கப்பட்ட அவரது சிறுகதைகள் நூல் அதே மேடையில் வெளியிடப்படுகிறது.
நான்கு நாட்களின் விழாவில் டெல்லி சாகித்ய அகாடமியின் செயலாளர் கே.சீனிவாச ராவ், சாகித்ய அகாடமியின் மண்டலச் செயலாளர் எஸ்.பி.மகாலிங்கேஸ்வர், கேரளப் பண்பாட்டுத்துறை அமைச்சர் ஏ.கே.பாலன், நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் இ.டி.முகமது பஷீர், மலப்புரம் மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர் அமித் மீனா மற்றும் மலையாளம் – தமிழ் – இந்தி – ஒரியா – வங்காளம் – கன்னடம் உள்ளிட்ட மொழிகளின் எழுத்தாளர்களும் பங்குபெறுகிறார்கள்.
இந்த விழாவில் கலந்துகொள்வதற்காகக் கவிஞர் வைரமுத்து ஜனவரி 28ஆம் தேதி காலை விமானத்தில் கோழிக்கோடு புறப்படுகிறார். மறுநாள் பிற்பகல் விமானத்தில் சென்னை திரும்புகிறார்.

Inter-Orphan Sports Meet for special children by Actor Santhanam on his Birthday
Twenty years back, the erstwhile tablers of Madras West Round Table 10 initiated the “Inter-Orphan Sports Meet” programme – a sports meet with a difference.
IOSM – in short – like the name suggests, was a unique event that became very dear to the enthusiastic tablers of the MWRT10 family.
For those, who are unaware of this programme, this was initially a sports meet that encouraged the participation of underprivileged children in competitive track & field events, followed by lunch. It became even more special, when over the years, children with special needs -including the blind- were also encouraged to take part.
In the year 2013, IOSM took a giant leap. Madras West Round Table 10 in partnership with “Special Olympics Asia Pacific” & “Special Olympics Bharat” upgraded this programme to its present format. “UNIFIED SPECIAL OLYMPICS” [USO], as it is called now encourages children with special needs to take part in various track & field events. Apart from the physically/ mentally challenged, the participants also include children suffering from Down Syndrome.
2016 was a landmark year for this programme, when we saw the participation cross the 1000 mark..!! USO 2016 had a total of 1200 children participating from Chennai & various other surrounding districts. A total audience of 1600, including teachers, support staff & volunteers witnessed this special event. Hence, the journey of ‘IOSM’ that started twenty years back, with around 150 children participating, continues as the ‘USO’ and now boasts of the participation of over 1200 special children.
This has been special not just to the MWRT10 family, but also to the parents of all those wonderful children who participate, the teachers, the Volunteers, and last but certainly not the least, Round Table India, which has graciously recognized our efforts.
The beautiful start 20 years back, and the exciting journey of this highly successful programme till now, has not only given immense pride to the MWRT10 family, but also the determination & resolve to carry this wonderful legacy forward, year after year.

Traditional lanterns and a festival menu — Chin Chin is celebrating the arrival of the Year of the Rooster, the Chinese New Year, in style. The rooster is the sign of dawn and awakening; a pre requisite to triumph and success achieved with hard work and patience in 2017.
Enter the dragon’s lair at our award winning restaurant to experience a taste of Chinese customs; true to a Chinese saying, ‘China is the place for food, but Sichuan is the place for flavour’, the dishes are robust with an abundance of dried chilies, Sichuan pepper and fragrant garlic. Under the magical touch of Chef Shan, the delightful celebration comes alive.
Chin Chin presents the tradition of Yusheng – tossing the prosperity salad at the beginning of the meal is considered symbolically significant of “good luck” for the New Year. The ingredients comprise of fresh vegetables like ginger, melon, lime, cucumber & leek, flavoured with sesame, pepper, cinnamon & pok chui biscuits.
Be a kid or a foodie, chicken lovers abound all over the world, at all times!
When cooked, it can be presented in several ways – sautéed, fried, pan tossed, baked, steamed – and many more. Whatever its form may be upon being cooked, the meat remains high in protein, low in fat and can be digested easily.
Opening the new menu for the festivities is the highlight –
the Shanghai Roast Chicken; this delicacy makes one imagine a golden brown poultry fresh off the skillet, whose skin is crispy and crackly and whose meat is tender, moist and flavorful. Open for Lunch and Dinner and serves a repertoire of a’la catrte – patrons at Chin Chin are in for a treat this Chinese New Year!
