Chennai, 8th October 2016: The Forum is proud to presented Adoptathon in association with the Blue Cross of India. ActressVaralakshmi Sarathkumar initiated Adoptathon, were more than 50 mongrel puppies found their lovely homes.

Adopt an Indian dog and you will get everything that you’re looking for in your new family member. The bark of a Shepherd and the heart of a Saint Bernard, the spots of a Dalmatian, size of a Schnauzer and the speed of a Greyhound. An Indian mongrel has it all. We have many of them waiting for you!

There are millions of stray and homeless animals in India today. Due to severe financial and infrastructural constraints, it is impossible to individually provide shelter for all these animals. If each one of us were to adopt one stray/ homeless animal, the numbers of those without shelter would become negligible. The Adoptathon will drive the adoption of Indian mongrels only, an Indian breed of dogs that are lovable and are adaptable to our natural conditions.

Lime Soda is different from the other pop-ups as we are not necessarily following the rule book. Yes as the name suggests we do want the vendors who have associated with us to showcase their merchandise like a true pop-up store; but care as been taken for our external stakeholders (customers) who will benefit from this pop-up.

 

We are trying to create a unique experience unlike just another exhibition which they can visit and shop. We have tied up with a leading cab service so the customer who ride with the service provider gets a better deal than otherwise, we have tied up with The English tea room itself to work upon a combo lunch offer as we feel our customers might have had a rushed morning or might have travelled long distance to visit us and the least we can do is get them a great mix of shopping and food at very affordable rates.

 

Hence our focus is on all the stakeholders equally.

 

Every show will have a theme ,this time it is English florals. Frankly we don’t know why we zeroed down upon this theme. I think it just felt so fresh and right that we – myself and my team instantly agreed upon. Luckily for us it also goes with the theme of the venue that we have hired. We have Crafty Art doing up the décor according to the theme.
Before I curated the show, I visited lots of pop ups and got feedback from both the customers who visited and the vendors who exhibited. We have worked on products not being overlapped since this is a single pop up shop, which will have only one vendor in each category, thereby complementing each other never competing with each other. Meanwhile catering to all the categories a customer will look for.

 

Hence this will not be a show concentrating only on clothing . We will have a mix of Designer wear, Designer fine jewellery, Indo western wear , Indian Wear, Western wear, Kids clothing , Personalised gifting, trousseau, diyas , Shoes,Accessories,Bags, Home Décor, handmade products ,cakes and much more! There is a belief that pop up shops are not affordable. We will be breaking this stereotype both for vendors and customers.

 

We have Vinni of  Achint Jewellery from Delhi and Aditya of  creative Hub also from Delhi. We have Shivani from Avec Amour who will be doing personalized gifting for Diwali. We will have monk story who will have eco-friendly hand-crafted accessories for men.

 

We have city based Bandana Narula unveiling her Diwali collection as well.

 

The show as such will stand out from usual pop-ups and I am excited about working on the whole experience. We have ensured that we carefully pick and choose the merchandise mix. So there is heavy Indian wear by ace designer Bandana Narula will be unveiling her Diwali Collection at Lime Soda apt for the Diwali season that is coming up. Then we have the Indo western range by tadka where western outfits are churned out of Indian fabric. Then we have Aditya from Creative Hub who is specialising in Shibori outfits.  We have a range of  trendy western wear from Summer Rain in fabrics like chiffon and georgette . We have kids clothing in organic fabrics like block printed cottons from Adorable Little Things.

 

To complement and complete the look we have jewellery from precious (Achint jewellery) to fashion jewellery(Mahatriya). And we also have eco friendly swanky accessories for men  from Monk Story by Abhinandan Jain. We have home décor,shoes and bags by Little Lavish . Diwali themed corporate and quirky  by ‘Gifted’ .  So yes in a sense is a complete range that we have tried to offer.

This being a pre Diwali show, We have Personalised gifting from Avec Amour by Shivani and Trousseau by Occasions. We also have packaged food by Gulabs and Cakes by “I can bake”. Lastly to add more bling to your Diwali , we have handcrafted Diyas as well. Chennai’s fashion trends are surely evolving by the day. It is in Fashion forward mode. We see a lot more people experimenting with styles, accessories ,weaves and fabric. People are more conscious now about their sense of dressing being apt for occasions. Also, with destination and pre wedding events, baby showers , maternity clothing , bachelorettes and Halloween trends catching up, People have more opportunities to dress up differently for occasions thereby experimenting.

 

And what better way to shop than pop-ups apart from the traditional malls and boutiques in the city to ensure you stand out .

 

Each show will be curated and created differently. So shoppers can expect a different wholesome experience each time. We are working to ensure our show will not be one of the pop-ups you walked in , picked up a dress/accessory and left. It will be an experience you will remember for a long time to come! And you will look forward to a better show next time. And this helps me play with my creativity each time to ensure the experience is different.

 

The next show is scheduled for December 16th and 17th   . But other details will be out post the first edition.Lime Soda pop-up as a whole is different , like we mentioned the merchandise mix, the look and feel and the benefits for the shoppers. We also have goodie bags as give-always and a pop-up photo booth. This mainly to add that zest to n already beaming show. And people can look to come with friends ,shop and then head for a quick bite from the exciting and specially curated pop-up menu for the two days at The English Tea Room Café!
We have products starting from Rs.150 onwards! And we will have something for everyone!

The 1000 km Rickshaw Challenge- Tamil Nadu Run 2016 is an adventure Rally/ Challenge done using Auto-rickshaws. The Rickshaw Challenge – Tamil Nadu Run 2016 adventure ran for 7 days from Chennai and back to Chennai ( 15th Oct till 21st Oct), taking its teams of 11 international rickshaw racing teams of 25 participants from 8 countries on an exhilarating journey across the length and breadth of Tamil Nadu.

 

The aspiring adventurers come from countries as far as US, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Ireland, Sweden, Russia and The Netherlands looking for an experience of a lifetime. And this is exactly what the Rickshaw Challenge – Tamil Nadu Run 2016 provides. In order to win this Challenge, the participants will have to rely on the locals at each destination to guide them along. Clearly it is all about human power.

 

During the Challenge participants eagerly looked forward to a number of mini- races and challenges on a daily basis through which the contestants also got the opportunity to form a meaningful connection to the places they are visiting. They not only enjoyed the natural beauty of the rural countryside but also sampled the local cuisine and culture.

 

Along the way, the participants made a difference in the lives of the underprivileged by raising funds for various projects of Round Table India under their Flagship program Freedom Through Education. Madras Midtown Round Table 42 is the exclusive Charity partner anchor for all the Rickshaw Rallies since 2006 and the over 1500 international participants have helped them raise over USD 300,000 over the years which has been used in school projects not just in Chennai but throughout the Southern India, along the routes of the various rallies, creating infrastructure for about 2000 under privileged children.

 

For the Tamil Nadu Run 2016 the teams started from Chennai on the 15th Oct 2016 and wind their to Pondicherry, Thanjavur, Yercaud, Thirvannamalai and back to Chennai covering about 1,000 kms. Along the way and had the opportunity of experiencing Tamil Nadu, its culture, scenic beauty the diversity of the people and ofcourse the famous cuisines of the region. The participants also visited school projects in Chennai, Pondicherry and Thirvannamalai interacting with students and teachers.

 

Madras Midtown Round Table 42 is honored and privileged to have Her Excellency, The Ambassador of Mexico, do the honors of Flagging down the Rally in Chennai on the 21st Aug 2016, at the Madras Seva Sadan, Tambaram. This is the site of their 12 classroom mega project being built at a cost of nearly Rs. 80 Lacs (USD 120,000). The Ambassador is a huge fan of the humble the autorickshaw and infact uses a customized auto-rickshaw as her official vehicle, plying the corridors of power and diplomacy in New Delhi.

A professional public servant who has served Mexico’s public and private sectors for 37 years, Ms. Pria has worked towards embracing political and developmental objectives that focus on and address issues related to poverty, identity and tolerance, particularly in poor, marginalised and ethnically-differentiated communities.

 

She has been Mexico’s Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia and Timor Leste, prior to which she had held several roles with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Mexico at the Director General level.

From 2001 to 2002 she was Director General for Mexican communities abroad, responsible for the Government’s relationship with the Mexican diaspora and their representation on issues relating to rights in their countries of reception and the resulting matters of domestic public policy. In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs she worked in areas that promoted the inclusion of different stakeholders in international affairs and those pertinent to the Ministry’s responsibilities and interests.

 

Ambassador Melba Pria has two Bachelor’s Degrees in Sociology and International Relations from the National University of Mexico (UNAM), two Masters degrees in Public policy and International Studies from the Technological Institute of Superior Studies (TEC) and JFK school of Government in Harvard. She has other studies in strategic planning and national security from INAP. She speaks several languages and has studied in Germany, England and the United States. Author of various books and lectures, she has also received honours from the Governments of Mexico, Germany and Timor Leste.

 

At present, she is concurrently Ambassador of Mexico to India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives and Sri Lanka.

3D TECHNOLOGY & ZYGOMA IMPLANTS FOR MISSING TEETH

For the first time in India a 3D printed surgical stent was used for a Quad Zygoma dental implant placement for a young female patient at Rajan Dental by Dr. Gunaseelan Rajan, Medical Director, Rajan Dental Hospital. This patient had lost almost all her upper jaw teeth by the age of 25. For this patient, quad Zygoma implants were placed and artificial teeth provided.

Cone Beam CT scan was taken, virtual planning was done using specialized software and custom made surgical stent was fabricated.  Using the stent as a precise guide, implant surgery was performed and fixed artificial teeth were provided for the patient. This entire process was performed in five days.

Compared to conventional free hand surgery, 3 D printed surgical stents help make the surgery more accurate and more predictable, especially in Quad Zygoma situations. This is where technology and medicine come together to benefit patients.

Zygoma implants are specialized dental implants used in the upper jaw to anchor fixed artificial teeth. These are used when patients have inadequate bone for anchoring standard implants in the upper jaw.

Zygoma implants have been in use for more than ten years in India. For Patients with severe bone resorption, 4 Zygomatic implants [Quad Zygoma] have to be used. This is a technically challenging procedure. This has now been made more accurate with the help of 3D print technology.

இந்த விழாவில் 17 அறிவியல் போட்டிகள் 6 நிலைகளில் வகுப்பு ரீதியாக மாணவர்களுக்கு நடத்தப்பட்டது. மாணவர்கள் ஆர்வத்துடன் தாங்கள் தயாரித்த அறிவியல் மாதிரிகளை கொண்டு வந்து விளக்கினார்கள்.

This Minnie Menon Edition was unveiled at a preview 5th October with a Fashion Show at The Park Chennai by invitation only in the presence of the glamorous ladies of Chennai. The show opened with a ballet performance by Amla Aina. The fashion show was choreographed by Karun Raman. The models walked wearing Minnie Menon’s limited edition jewellery pieces from ‘Bangkok with Love’ collection. The menu for the evening was Thai inspired. Minnie Menon has designed an exclusive pair of cufflinks for Rajesh Radhakrishnan, GM of the Park and C Kankaria, Director Olympia.

Minnie Menon Jewelry’s Pre Festive Collection this season has a special flair and with good reason.

It has been inspired by her visit to the 58th Bangkok Gem and Jewellery Exhibition .Minnie was invited by the Dept of International Trade Promotion of Thailand as their guest and visitor to this prestigious Exhibition.

“As a relatively new entrepreneur it made a huge impact on me. The size, the scale, the diversity of footfalls and offerings were quite inspirational “This season my Collection is not driven by the music that my favourite semi precious stones create in my ears when I see and touch them.  Rather it was in  this  setting, the vast expanse  and the cultural background  that  I discovered some magical stones….which I  handpicked  and worked on for this inspired Collection  logically called ‘Bangkok with love’. I am a OO7 fan and the title came to mind as spontaneously as the film ‘From Russia with love’. The stone that won my heart was incidentally from Russia and called Charolite. A colour scheme tends to evolve unwittingly in a collection. And this time it’s purple, Royal purple, the colour of the Charolite stones and the hues radiated by the fiery Australian Opal.
